Mr Linden's Enchanted Library
By Evelyn Smoldon!
As she strolled into the dusty library she caught a whiff of burning, it smelt like a dragon's breath. She called out, “Hello?...Mr Linden?”. There was a pause of silence then BANG ,”Hello Ingrid” Called Mr Linden “I just got so absorbed in this new book that I forgot I had put some toast in”.
“Anyway what can I help you with?”
“I just came to pick up the book I ordered.”
“Oh yes I have that book somewhere in the back” Mr Linden answered ,
“BUT... I don’t think you should borrow it.
“Well why not? I really need it for tomorrow because we have to a project on creepers.”
“That is exactly why I don’t think you should borrow it.”
“Please Mr Linden just for one day please please please.”
“Fine but don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
You see Mr Linden's library was no ordinary library this is because all the books were magic in a one way or another, this particular book was dangerous you see when you read it a creeper starts creeping up on you and wraps itself around you, before you can do anything about it.
That evening Ingrid started reading about creepers. She learnt that creepers grow `to about 90 to 120 cms in height. But it was getting very late and Ingrid started to slowly doze off. Then once she was asleep, a strange creek and ...swoosh! A creeper started to slowly creep up on Ingrid it was coming out of the book. It wound itself around her arm. the creeper started at the finger then wound itself up and around her wrist then her arm.
Ingrid awoke with a start. She had had a horrible dream. She glanced down at her arm and gasped there wound round her arm was a creeper. She struggled and tugged but the creeper just kept winding itself over her shoulder. She kept struggling but the creeper just speed up, it was coming up on her neck she needed to do something and fast. Then something clicked in she stopped struggling and the creeper stopped, then it slowly crumpled up and disintegrated.
As Ingrid was walking to school the next day she quickly popped into the library to return the book. She told Mr Linden that he was right about the book and she would listen to him in future and be more careful next time…or will she...
