Rainbow Unicorn Productions

During Term Three, room six worked hard with Miss Gleeson to create an advert about an everyday  object. Every Tuesday in the middle block we would film, edit and make billboards which would get marked on a rubric. We worked hard on this and we hope you like it.

Wizards - Shark Poster

In room 6 the wizards (a reading group) made posters with information on sharks, by writing up facts we found from a range of sources.  We read articles, we searched the library and we also used the internet.  We read and transferred this knowledge into our own ideas and typed out the facts and things we found important.  We printed them out and stuck them onto our posters or sharks we drew and painted. Some of us also made fish to put on and decorate. Here is a picture some of posters about sharks.  Come and check them out in room 6.

Laura St Josphes day

Todays blog was written by Laura
On the 19th of March Good Shepherd School celebrated St Joseph’s day with house picnics. We all wore mufti to support the work of caritas in the Solomon Islands. (Later in the week Gemma Sinnott came to speak to us from caritas.) We started the day with a liturgy which was led by room 6. After that we ate our lunch,( house picnics.) Blake sat at the playground tree, Shepherd at the hall shade, Cowley by room 1&2 and Hillary at the three olive trees. The picnics were followed by tabloid sports in the afternoon. The games were, Fish, Kina toss, Stuck in the mud, duck duck goose, suits, three legged race, Hacky sack and spoon. Everybody had an amazing St Joseph’s day that we hope to do next year.

Persuasive Writing - Cooking with Insects

Hot Cross Bugs
What has six legs can fly and can walk upside down? That’s right, insects. I am a chef famous for cooking insects in meals, and I think you should start to include insects in your diet because they are a tasty treat, they are the low in fat healthy option and there are famous recipes from all around the world that include insects.
Many insects are edible, like mealworms, crickets and weevils. You should begin to cook with insects because they are quite a delicious snack instead of biscuits and crackers. You can cook insects many ways, like you can get them caramelised, fried, marinated, stewed, roasted, even barbequed! Insects are the guilt free way of eating.
Insects are a very good snack if you are on a diet or want to eat healthier. Many insects are low in fat and very rich in vitamins. They are a nutritious, healthy, energy building food that is cheap and easily accessible. In some countries you can buy insects in supermarkets, like in France. You can get insects from all over the world.
How do you explore the world in just your kitchen? By cooking with insects of course! Insects are eaten all around the world, in some countries insects are a delicacy, like fried tarantulas in Indonesia. Some countries are well known for their insects, like France for their snails, Mexico for their French fried caterpillars and Thailand for their fried bugs. There are recipes from all over the world that have bugs in them, like ant sorbet and beetle pasta.
As you can see there are many reasons of why you must cook with insects, not only do they taste incredible but they are also one of the healthiest ways of eating. Also every mouthful of this delectable food, you are experiencing cuisine from countries all around the world. I strongly believe that all people must include insects to their daily diet.
