Ecofilm Productions

Over term two and three we have been taught by the lovely Miss Gleeson in media studies (I.C.T work). We worked as a team to accomplish this film it took us a lot of effort to develop a billboard, a presentation, a poster, a storyboard, a film and editing. Overall we had lots of fun and enjoyed the experience.

Bat Detectives

Over the week our reading group “Angels” have been learning about bats and their natural habitats. We’ve made posters with evidence to show how much we have learnt about bats but, sadly there aren’t many around anymore.  One of the main causes for this is when people moved to New Zealand from other countries they brought pests with them.  The pests are one of the biggest threats to bats.  New Zealand has two types of bats, long-tailed bats and short-tailed bats. We watched also watched a documentary about Bats that we wrote facts from too. The scientist in the documentary created experiment where they could record how bats fly, so for example they create a wind tunnel and recorded in slow motion their flying patterns this helped people to look at how planes and flying things were made.  We learnt lots of new information, it was easy and challenging, and loads of FUN!

Persuasive Writing - Cooking with Insects

Do you have Taste Bugs?

What can have six legs or even no legs on some types? I am a famous chef who cooks with insects. You should cook with insects because they add a great taste in your dish. Insects are low in fat, and give you protein. They are tasty and very nutritious.
If you’re feeling like it’s the right time to try insects, then now is the time. Insects are edible like crickets, cockroaches. And Tarantulas. Tarantulas, Their Mm rear ends are quite tasty and creamy. Insects are very good when you’re on a diet because they are better option than lollies such as my favourite dish in New Zealand, BBQ Huhu grubs with a drizzle of sweet and sour sauce.
You must cook with insects because they are delicious and you can try foods of the world. Remember insects will add a tasty surprise!        .I believe that everyone should taste insects because it will make your taste buds taste bugs. Remember they are not only healthy, but you can get a chance to explore different recipes from lots of different countries. You definitely should cook with insects.

The best camp ever!!!

On Monday 3rd of January 2014 the year six’s went to camp.
Everyone went by car, lots of parent’s volunteered. We were learning how to survive when it comes to water, we were learning about water safety and how to keep ourselves safe. We went snorkelling, and looking for fish, the group called sharks found 2 snappers and Te-Aute and Reta found one blue fish, it was exiting. We also went abseiling, we made a reef and learnt to tie different types of knots.
