           The Red Pandas
By Lucy Kilkenny
24 July Friday 2015
I am learning to inform my audience through an information report.

What’s red, brown, has white on their face and has a black under belly and can be known as the fire cat? Thats right, the Red Panda. Red Pandas aren’t actually known as Pandas, they have been classified to be known as small bears. Did you know that the Red Panda’s scientific name is Ailurus fulgens but their higher classification name is Ailurus? The Red Panda communicates with squeaks, chattering noises, and chipmunk-like sounds. The average lifespan of the Red Panda is about eight to twelve years long, but Red Pandas can live longer in captivity. Red Pandas are nocturnal, which means they like to hunt and prowl around in the night.
                                              http://seveninchesofyourtime.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Yawning-Red-Panda.jpg Behaviour:
Red Panda’s behaviour is that they normally act solitary towards each other and can have a short experience of a relationship during the annual breeding season of the Red Pandas. The innate behaviours are instincts that the Red Pandas are normally born with, and one is that they have short mating relationships. Red Pandas like to imagine that they are large, vicious, carnivorous mammal hunters, even though they are Omnivores.

Diet:
Red Pandas are known as Omnivores, (Omnivores are animals that only eat plants, leaves and grass). A Red Panda’s favourite food is bamboo, but they specifically like the tender bamboo shoots. They chew the bamboo into pieces that fit into their mouths, whereas the giant pandas barely chew it at all, But when the weather is warm they also like to eat small insects and fruit, as well as berries, blossom bird eggs and small lizards too. When food is scarce they can spend up to 13 hours a day  just looking for food.

Habitat:
Red pandas don’t just live in forests, in fact they are also found in Nepal, Northern Myanmar, specifically Burma as well as in Central China, Red Pandas spend most of their lives in trees and even like to sleep aloft. Red Pandas can also be found in zoos in such as Auckland, Wellington and Hamilton, Red Pandas share part of their range with the Giant
Pandas. Red Pandas like to live in cool temperatures of bamboo forests the biggest
is habitat loss.

Creative Writing - Mr Linden's Library

Mr Linden’s Library

May 2015
I am learning to entertain my audience

There was once a simple old man called Liam Linden, who owned a library. There is Bella Wright who was a young teenager and a boy called Tom Asher who was energetic and curious. Tom was 10, Bella was 13 and Mr Linden was 87.

One day a girl called Bella Wright went in for a book, while she was wandering around she noticed a book hidden behind the shelf she brought it to the counter and said “can i please get these book out? Mr Linden said “Are you sure you would like to get this book out?”, “yes i’m sure”. When night fell, slowly but quietly the book took over her mind
and body.

When she woke up she returned the book but instead of shelving it Mr Linden got rid of it The next night Mr Linden mysteriously died. A boy called Tom Asher discovered the book, he found out what happened to Bella and that she had turned evil and wanted to help, but no one was about to help him, so he went to find Bella, when he found her she was inside a ruined old house, the walls were crumbling bit by bit with a layer of  vine’s that were growing off the house.

It was certainly very creepy, finally he plucked up enough courage and went to knock on the door… Slowly the door creaked open and there she stood like a demon in your worst nightmare!! Her hair was like a birds nest, her clothes were ripped and like rags. She looked HORRIBLE, Tom was terrified, so he ran inside as fast as he had ever gone, he felt like he was flying… Until suddenly he stopped, turned around and yelled out...

STOP, I WANT TO HELP YOU!

She stopped and looked at him and he asked why are you doing this to people what happened to you, do you know where the book went. Um yes i do know what happened to the book. But it will be no
use to you. Mr linden hid it. But i know how to help you it
said in the book we need to get you to the library to find the
book and what we need to fix you.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO BELLA WRIGHT?
WILL SHE CARRY ONE BEING EVIL?
WILL SHE BE FIXED?
WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT???
