Creative Writing - The Mysterious Lantern

The Mysterious Lantern
by Daniel k

One night, there was a man on a deck above a deep blue ocean. The name of the man on the deck was John and he was holding a mysterious lantern. On the lantern it said, warning, when you wave the lantern three times something comes to you!. So he read what it said and felt a bit uncomfortable, so he went home.

The next day, he went to the place where he was last night, but this time something was wrong. So he waved the lantern three times and then a paper plane came flying to him. So he unfolded the paper plane and on the paper plane It had blood. Then he waved the lantern three times and then a ball came flying to him, but it had nothing on it so he went home and had a rest.

But the third time he went there, there was something that was really different. There was scratches on the grass and there was footprints on the grass as well. So he followed were the trail footprints, but the footprints lead him to his friends house. When he went in his friend's house his friend wasn’t there then he said “hello?, anybody there,” so he wave the lantern three times and he woke up in his bed and his lantern was on the table and it was 7:30 am.

Was it just a dream?Or was it really him doing it?

The Seven Chairs
By Corum DeLacey

Have you ever had a day where you just knew something bad was going to happen?  That day where it was uncomfortable for everyone involved.  Everyone was fine but there was that awkward tension that filled the room, as it swallowed us all up.  My sister Zia and I (Carter) had just awoken from our sleep, stumbling our way over to the kitchen to get breakfast that had probably been sitting out since mum had left for work at the crack of dawn.  Everything was so bland, the cold and thick porridge stuck to the sides of the bowl,  the cold milky milo with a lack of actual milo. Nothing had any flavour, everything around me was just plain old grey. I turned around accepting the fact that my mother had already left for work, when “THUD!”  I had fell to the floor, I stood up confused and looked back where I had fallen to see the dining table chairs had disappeared!

Zia told me that we had to go save the chairs!, “Waaiiitt WHAT?!” I replied.
“We have to go to school!”  Zia rushed out to the door like she didn’t hear me. What was I meant to do? Just wait for her to come back? I ran after her to find that she was all the way down the street. When I caught up she told me that she knew a place, no questions asked. We got to the end of the road and before I could register that we were at the dead end of the street a portal appeared straight out of thin air! Zia held my arm tightly and leaped in with none of my consent.

I woke up and scanned the area, something told me this wasn’t Australia anymore. The city lights beamed into my eyes and I could see the Eiffel tower in the distance. “Paris” Zia told me, “Thanks for pointing out the obvious” I still had SO many questions to ask but I just played along. I dusted the sand and dust off of me and we rushed over to the chair department thinking our chairs might have teleported there. Zia and I crossed the busy roads and got to the world’s most famous chair department store.

Before we could enter, a body-guard shoved us out of the way, “Hey!” I told the man that we had to check if our chairs magically warped here “Sorry, kid we’re closed down for good” Zia was very anxious and annoyed by then, “But, you’re the most famous chair department store in the whole world! Just let us in for a few minutes we promise we won’t take long!” The body-guard nervously stepped out of the way, if you insist… “We insist!” I told him.

We entered but collapsed shortly after… mwahahaha! I looked up and saw we were in a church, just a normal church until up out of the ground floated a rather large woman sitting on a rather large chair when she had hit the roof she stopped and did a deathly stare at us! I turned around and saw our mum sitting on one of our dining table chairs weeping behind a glass wall. “ What are you doing here mum? Zia screamed,
“I fell asleep in the car and I woke up over here!” The man floated up into the ceiling and started laughing miraculously like a miracle just happened. We heard a creak and soon after the room started to rumble and shake, we realised that the walls were heating up and the roof was closing in on us! It was a matter of time before the roof would crush us! Imagine that on your gravestone…

RIP Carter
2001 - 2015
Was crushed by a roof

There wasn’t enough time to muck around, I looked desperately for a exit just then Zia smashed the glass wall mum was behind. “Hurry up Carter! Lets go!” She held my arm and ran after mum. Mum was standing up with her arms spread right out and wiping away her tears… This was definitely not what my mum would be doing in situation like this, knowing her like I do she would have been sitting down on there chair trying to recall what had just happened, after all she is a very forgetful lady. I reached over to grasp her hand, but I couldn’t, I tried over and over again until I gave up. What was happening? Was she a fake? I figured that there was no time for her anymore, it was sad but true the roof was only a mere step away from us. Zia fell to her knees and crawled over to find an air vent, it was a way out! I felt so strong the adrenaline in me was insane, I ripped the air vent right out of its socket and crawled through with Zia to forget that all the walls were still sparking with electricity Zia accidently bumped her left arm into a wall, she started wailing like a little baby. “Shut up!” I screamed through my burning throat, it was infuriating that we had come all this way for nothing. There was no time for crying we had to make it out. Eventually we found another air vent with the rest of power I had in my body, I tugged at it until it came loose and fell out. Minutes later (which felt like hours) we were back in the cold atmosphere of France, “Oh great another portal” I told Zia, off we went into the next portal of the day.

I opened my eyes and saw mum was awake whilst my sister was still whining like a baby. The sandy plains and cold, damp breeze told us that we weren’t in France anymore. It turned out that mum had made it back by herself, just in time! My mother carried Zia in her arms and called for a taxi. We all got in the taxi and my mum told the man to drive us over to the nearest hospital. “I mean come on! It wasn’t that bad!” I thought to myself as the man took us to the hospital

We had made it to the hospital and all was not well… It would cost a fortune to fly back home, at least for us. When we got home you would think we would be living a normal life in a normal house like before but nooo, everything had changed after that day we never felt normal again...

ALTERNATIVE ENDING:

Carter ended up devoting his life to designing chairs, he become famous and got a nobel prize award for his bravery in the incident that happened a few years back. As for Carter’s mum she married a rich and humble man and lived a peaceful, long life. Last but not least Zia became Cater’s honored secretary.

             The End…
Or is it?

“Its just rabble, it’s all rabble!” Exclaimed Theo. Theo was devastated by the amount of damage Fear the dragon did with his hot lava like breath. The only people alive were Theo and May, they have never gotten along. But to kill the dragon they would have to work together. Theo nervously walked over to the blacksmith and found a bow and a couple of arrows. May found a bronze sword and food so off they went to start their quest.

As they started May asked, “do you know where you're going or are we lost?” Theo replied, “ I think we should stop at the murky river,” About half an hour later they stopped at the murky river but something bad happened someone had died but they had to carry on. The journey was long and to the birthplace of Fear May and Theo stopped along they met a poor man who was a friend of a blacksmith to make them some armor but the blacksmith said “I know a place you could get a horse to help you on your quest”. The travel was dangerous they had to cross Death Bridge, Spooky Valley and go through Devil Domain. Theo saw a baby dragon and hit it with an arrow. May told Theo, “the stars are coming up we should make camp here to sleep.

In the morning Theo got up at dawn to catch some food. May woke up at 7:00am which was around the time Theo had cooked the food which was an eagle and fox with butter it was delicious. Suddenly it started to rain heavily so they took a shortcut through the spikey forest. Theo saw that the mountain in the village where Fear was born.

May looked down at a piece of rope on the muddy ground, May look at Theo and said, “Theo stop were at Death Bridge.” But Theo didn't stop and the rope started to unravel a plank snapped and jolted Theo painfully but he made it across! May started to cross when she slipped but got hold of a perfectly new plank, pulled herself up and made it across. Theo and May walked on they got to the terrifying spooky valley the most mossiest, and most misty place ever. They tried to run but the moss was alive and grabbing them! The moss had a tight grip on May but with a swing of her sword she cut her way to freedom and Theo managed to get but was very angry, “May why didn’t you help me?” May said nothing as they didn’t talk until they got to Devil Domain so they started to climb up the Domain and up the mountain to slay the dragon.

At the top they saw Fear sleeping. But the most odd thing was he had a saddle on his back. Later a tall man in dark clothes walked out at a furious pace and didn’t notice May and Theo. Just as he was starting to wake the dragon the man spotted Theo looking through the woven flax basket when Theo looked up the man was stained in front of him His scarf blowing in the freezing air. The man started to talk to Theo he said, “My name is Adam.” Adam was apparently the owner of Fear the dragon. May came out of the cave that Adam lives in and got a shock when she saw Adam. They looked at each other, May pulled out her shiny bronze sword Adam pulled out a dim dragon blood sword. They ran at each other with a swing of Adam's sword he split May’s sword in half then Theo jumped out of nowhere and kicked Adam off the mountain, May found Adam’s sword she ran up to the dragon and cut its head off!.

Creative Writing - Mr Man and the Mysterious Chair

Mr Man and the Mysterious Chairs

By Ethan Gaoa

Mr Man is a man who is all about perfection, he doesn’t do what other people do, all he does is stay inside, tidy up his whole house and tend to his garden. But one day while Mr Man was outside looking at all of his  beautiful plants in his garden,he saw something very unexpected, it was an old fashioned chair.

He felt kind of weird because the chair wasn’t there yesterday? So who had given it to him he thought, who had returned it?  After he had finished looking at his plants he was so tired that he decided to have a cosy tester on the chair, but as soon as he sat down... He felt the chair suddenly whisk him away into a different country on a way different chair.

He tried to figure out where he was and finally some people from the country came up to him and asked in a different language what he was doing, and then he guessed by their accents that he was in Paris.  But then ...  suddenly he was whisked away again to another country, but this time he knew what country it was because he had been here before on a holiday and the country was New Zealand.

But when he thought about it he thought he would get whisked away like last time. So he thought New Zealand over and over again so he never left the country and he was stuck on the chair forever. Creative Writing - Mr Linden's Library

Mr Linden’s Library
by Lucy k
May 2015
I am learning to entertain my audience

There was once a simple old man called Liam Linden, who owned a library. There is Bella Wright who was a young teenager and a boy called Tom Asher who was energetic and curious. Tom was 10, Bella was 13 and Mr Linden was 87.

One day a girl called Bella Wright went in for a book, while she was wandering around she noticed a book hidden behind the shelf she brought it to the counter and said “can i please get these book out? Mr Linden said “Are you sure you would like to get this book out?”, “yes i’m sure”. When night fell, slowly but quietly the book took over her mind
and body.

When she woke up she returned the book but instead of shelving it Mr Linden got rid of it The next night Mr Linden mysteriously died. A boy called Tom Asher discovered the book, he found out what happened to Bella and that she had turned evil and wanted to help, but no one was about to help him, so he went to find Bella, when he found her she was inside a ruined old house, the walls were crumbling bit by bit with a layer of  vine’s that were growing off the house.

It was certainly very creepy, finally he plucked up enough courage and went to knock on the door… Slowly the door creaked open and there she stood like a demon in your worst nightmare!! Her hair was like a birds nest, her clothes were ripped and like rags. She looked HORRIBLE, Tom was terrified, so he ran inside as fast as he had ever gone, he felt like he was flying… Until suddenly he stopped, turned around and yelled out...

STOP, I WANT TO HELP YOU!

She stopped and looked at him and he asked why are you doing this to people what happened to you, do you know where the book went. Um yes i do know what happened to the book. But it will be no
use to you. Mr linden hid it. But i know how to help you it
said in the book we need to get you to the library to find the
book and what we need to fix you.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO BELLA WRIGHT?
WILL SHE CARRY ONE BEING EVIL?
WILL SHE BE FIXED?
WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT???

Creative Writing - The Return of the Stone

The Return of the Stone.
By Seth McGlynn
I am learning to entertain my audience.

One spooky day, there was a boy and a girl who were so bored of doing nothing, they decided to head down to the spooky lake.

They were walking on top of the flat stones, crunch, crunch, crunch,  listening to the stones crunching together under their feet.  Finally they arrived at the lake.  Both of them looking forward towards the lake looking  through the blurry mist of fog.

Both of them picked up a rock, the rock dull in colour, smooth, small enough to fit perfectly in their hands.  Pulling their arm back and threw the rock, skipping it across the  still water.  The rocks skimming, causing ripples to explode like little bombs.

They did not know there was something strange going on but suddenly out of the mist in the background a stone came skipping back the boy picked up the stone, turning it over.  There was a message carved into the stone, in small thin letters. The message said “I will find you.”   Now at this point they knew that something was wrong.

So they sprinted as fast as possible huffing and puffing, with fear and fiery.  They reached their house slamming the door and locking it behind them, both zooming up to their rooms with terror and locking their door, crying to go to sleep but all the horrible flashbacks  were  coming back into their minds and they kept coming until their end.

Creative Writing - The Stone

The Stone.

By Curtis Tibbles

I am learning to entertain my audience.

This story is the sequel to The Adventure of the Stone.

… I saw a stone.  I reached down grabbing the stone in my hand.  My fingers rubbing over the top of the stone as I could feel a strange heat coming from the smooth pebble.  As my eyes looked straight down at this odd rock, as my thumb turned in over in my hand.

I gasped in terror as I dropped the rock from my grip, letting it fall to the ground.  Had I really seen the writing on the rock? I went down again as the rock lays in front of me. The rock facing down showing me the message once more! I picked up the stone, it said help me I checked the back of the rock It was the same stone I had thrown! I threw it back into the water  but somehow it returned and came back I picked it up again. This time it said it’s me! I was trying to work out who it was, when I saw the shape. It was a person in the distance, on a boat.

I ran back to the house and got a boat from the dark basement. I ran as fast as a cheater and i made it back in time, I rowed so fast on my boat I found the person with ease.

But, this was no person to save! It was a creature with a mask. This mysterious animal had a chain around its neck. We were so petrified we went back to the house and never came back again.
