Creative Writing - The Odd, Mystical Chair

The Odd, Mystical Chair
By Anija Irvine

I am learning to entertain my audience.

I will always remember the 13th of March 1845. Falling on a Friday it created a gloomy afternoon, quite fitting for a Black Friday. It had just hit 2 o’clock and Violet was was hopping out the door of the covenant, to complete her usual Friday afternoon rounds at the rest home.  As she stepped out she took a quick glance down Werelock Avenue. That’s when she saw the chair, not just an ordinary chair but a strange and mystical chair that drew her attention to it.  This chair would change her life forever.

Vi (as her friends called her) feeling the pull of the chair made her way towards it, ignoring her regular afternoon visit.  Sweeping up the chair in her arms, Vi and the Chair strolled inside. She went over to the kitchen to get a coffee (black and strong) and sat in the chair. She dozed off a bit from seeing this flying chair in a little dead end road on the outskirts of London. She had been sitting on the mystical chair for around five minutes when ‘BOOM!.’ With a crack and a creak she was zooming into the sky.

At first she thought it would be an awesome adventure, It was when she figured she was traveling over the Indian Ocean  at around 5,000 km per hour, that she changed her mind.
You would be scared too, if you were on this odd mystical chair that looked like it was from the 1700s, had one leg missing and a lot of keys, pots and pans connected to it; and that is why Violet was freaking out.

‘Clang Bang Crash’ it was as if an engine had thrown up. As Violet fainted, the slightest noise came out of her mouth. You could hear the chair yelping at the sight of Violet Samuels from 27 Werelock Avenue falling asleep.

She woke up while noticing that she was in Rio. Her childhood dream was to go to Rio she was so excited. It was the best day of her life. That night she went out for dinner at an incredible restaurant called ‘La Sagal Macadere’ She ordered a double Faladere, a special at this restaurant. She felt like a little walk, so she quickly swooped through the restaurant as her eagle eyes scanned the area. She walked over to the back door where she saw an oddly shaped figure.

She went and had a look, while examining it she figured out it was the chair in disguise it looked like a zombie and was coming towards her. Ahh, trembling with fear she took a deep breath and ran for her life. She started to run  but the chair had locked the door. The chair was coming after her, Suddenly she started to jump off the walls, crawl under the chairs legs, she even walked on the roof. Had this all been a dream? Is this just my imagination? she thought.

The next morning she was surprised at the sight of the pink drawer in front of her bed, one night Rio, next morning home again! Violet quickly scanned the room and raced down the stairs through the kitchen and out the door. Wait a second she slowly backed back and took a speedy look in the kitchen she saw the chair but the normal not scary one.
