What is black and white, top of the food chain and has 40 to 56 pearly white teeth., lives All over the world and is the 2nd smartest marine animal in the world? Yes you're dead right- an Orca whale or as you might say a Killer whale but is this name fair? Orcas have never actually hurt someone in the wild can you believe that?
Appearance:
The Orca whale is black on top with black underneath and has a little patch of white behind the eye. Their eyes are positioned on the side of their head. The animal has a dorsal fin,. Due to stress the dorsal fin will bend over. Their skin is as leather, smooth but thick . Orcas can grow up to 6 to 9 metres long!! and weigh over 6 ton!! An Orca named Tilikum is one of the biggest orcas in captivity as 6.9 meters long. Also the Orca has 40 to 56 teeth in total. But the numbers of the species is dying due of captivity and poaching.
Habitat/sleeping:
Orcas do not have a precise place to settle and sleep for the night and they are found all over the world. But you might be thinking how do orca sleep without drowning? Aren’t they mammals? Well orcas actually sleep on their backs and float, and put their heads to the surface. This prevents drowning. Intelligence:
Orcas are the second smartest marine animal. This would occur because orcas have a section of the brain for emotions that humans do not have. scientists have found they are amazingly well-wired for sensing and analyzing their watery, three-dimensional environment.

protection/Hunting/Food:
Orcas do not have many enemies as they are top of the marine food chain. killer whales have been observed preying on more than 140 species of animals, including many species of bony fish, sharks and rays, and 50 different species of marine mammals. Their only threat would be big sharks or great whites. to protect themselves Orcas charge themselves into animals and tears chunks from their bodies… orcas can devour a sea animal… and maybe even you! You do not want to mess with this kind of power.
Conclusion
